HOLLAND COLLEGE
Holland College Announces New President & CEO

March 5, 2026

Jessie Inman, Chair of the Holland College Board of Governors and the College Presidential Search Committee, announced that the Board has chosen Natalie Mitton as the College's new President & CEO. Natalie will be the first woman to hold the position and is the seventh President & CEO in Holland College history.  The decision follows a comprehensive national search led by the Presidential Search Committee with assistance from an external firm and a process that included consultation with both internal and external stakeholders in the College community.

Mitton brings to the role more than two decades of progressive leadership in post-secondary education, public service, and as a business owner/operator. Widely recognized across Atlantic Canada for her collaborative, strategic, and student-centred leadership style, she has built a reputation for fostering inclusive, high-performing teams and strengthening institutional effectiveness. Her career reflects a deep commitment to students, academic excellence, and innovation.

"The Board of Governors is delighted to welcome Natalie Mitton as the next President & CEO of Holland College," commented Inman.  "Throughout her career, Natalie has demonstrated exceptional leadership, vision, and a deep commitment to student success and community impact. Her strategic mindset and collaborative approach will serve the College well as we continue to grow, innovate, and strengthen our role across Prince Edward Island and beyond. We look forward to supporting her as she leads Holland College into its next chapter."

Mitton has an extensive history of senior academic leadership at Holland College, including serving as Vice-President, Academic and Applied Research, where she oversaw more than 60 post-secondary programs, educational joint venture programs, adult and community education, applied research, and major innovation centres such as Canada's Smartest Kitchen and the Business Analytics Centre. She led the transition of all Holland College programs to a new academic and delivery model, championed substantial growth in applied research funding, and provided strategic leadership provincially, regionally, and nationally while serving on numerous academic committees and boards.

Throughout her career, Natalie has also been deeply engaged with other post-secondary institutions across the region through her active involvement with the Atlantic Colleges Atlantique (ACA) network where she served as Chair of the Vice-Presidents Academic Table. This ongoing committee and sector-level work has helped build strong, trusted relationships within the post-secondary community, relationships that will serve the College well as we continue to collaborate, innovate, and respond to the evolving needs of learners and industry.

In addition to her post-secondary leadership, Mitton brings valuable senior government and policy experience through her recent service as Deputy Minister in both the Department of Workforce, Advanced Learning and Population and the Department of Education and Early Years for the Province of Prince Edward Island.

"To serve as President & CEO of Holland College is an honor and a privilege," Mitton said. "For 57 years, the College has accomplished so much and impacted so many. With our students, their success and institutional excellence at the centre of all we do, I look forward to working with College students, faculty and staff and our industry and government partners to create new opportunities, realize new successes and build on the achievements of this unique and exceptional learning institution."

Natalie will begin her term on July 1, 2026, following the retirement of current President & CEO, Dr. Alexander (Sandy) MacDonald.
