Graduates from six certificate and diploma programs at Assiniboine College's Parkland campus mark a significant milestone, crossing the stage at the college's graduation ceremony in Dauphin.
"This is a moment that reflects not just academic success, but resilience, growth, and the courage to take the next step," said Mark Frison, President of Assiniboine College. "Our graduates have embraced challenges, supported one another, and built a foundation that will carry them forward into meaningful careers and lifelong learning."
More than 60 graduates will be recognized at the ceremony.
"For many of our students, the journey to graduation hasn't been a straight path," said Carol Stewart, Director of the Parkland Campus. "They've balanced commitments to family, work, and their studies, and yet they've shown up every day with focus and heart. Watching them reach this milestone is incredibly rewarding, and it speaks to the strength of this campus and community."
Delivering this year's valedictory address is Tammy Chief, a Business Administration graduate.
"I feel excited, but mostly I feel proud. We showed dedication, commitment, and perseverance, and today (June 5) really represents everything we've worked so hard to achieve," said Chief. "My experience at Parkland campus has been really positive. It was a good fit for me because it's here in the community I live in, close to home, my support system, and my connections. The staff and faculty were always supportive, and my classmates became like family."
Chief also highlighted the importance of creating connections during her time at Assiniboine, something she will take into the next step of her career, which begins right away.
"I've recently secured a phenomenal opportunity with DNRC (Dauphin Neighbourhood Renewal Corporation) where I can apply both my professional experience and the knowledge I've gained through my education. It's something I've been working toward for many years and returning to school gave me the confidence to step into this new role."
Friday's ceremony also recognizes one student for outstanding academic achievement, with the Governor General's Medal, awarded to the student with the highest overall average in a diploma program, presented to Early Childhood Education graduate, Calista Hudyma.
"Graduates from Assiniboine College represent the future of Manitoba's workforce and communities," said Renée Cable, Minister of Advanced Education and Training. "Your dedication and hard work are building stronger communities across our province, and we are proud to celebrate your accomplishments."
Assiniboine College will host additional graduation ceremonies in the coming weeks, including its largest celebration in Brandon. Find out more at assiniboine.net/grad.
