We are excited to announce the launch of the Strategic Plan Community Consultations website, which will provide updates and information about the upcoming community consultation process.
Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) will engage in community consultation to ensure the Multi-Year Strategic Plan, which was developed in 2022, continues to resonate and reflect the WRDSB's beliefs and values in an effort to best support student achievement and well-being, in addition to providing feedback that will inform future decisions. The WRDSB Multi-Year Strategic Plan should reflect student, staff, parent, family and community voice and by engaging in this process it aligns with the approved March 24, 2025 Board Motion to engage in community consultations.
The WRDSB wants to hear from students, staff, parents, families, caregivers and community as your feedback will support the WRDSB in determining how we can continue to improve our efforts to support the educational needs of students in the WRDSB. We welcome feedback from all members of our community and we are eager to hear from many perspectives.
Consultation Process
WRDSB Trustees and staff will engage collaboratively in a Strategic Plan Community Consultation, which will include:
- Surveys
- Facilitated Focus Groups
- Town Hall Meetings
The consultation will involve:
- Students
- Staff members
- Parents, families and caregivers
- WRDSB Board Committees
- Union representatives
- Community partners and stakeholder groups
Through the community consultation process, WRDSB commits to:
- Keeping students at the centre of stakeholder consultations
- Using language and processes that are accessible for all stakeholders
- Providing multiple ways for stakeholders to engage and provide consultation
- Honoring the feedback that is received to inform next steps
Timelines
We are currently in Phase 2 of the consultation process, which involves the implementation of the plan to engage in facilitated focus groups, surveys and town hall meetings. The WRDSB is finalizing the survey and expects to begin the community consultation in the coming weeks. It is anticipated the consolidation of the information will be completed by February 2026, with a final report to Trustees in Spring 2026.
Updates will continue to be shared at Board Meetings and through the Strategic Plan Community Consultation website. Public communication and invitations to participate in the community consultations will be shared upon launch of the consultation.
