Surrey Schools celebrates 180+ employees for 25 years of service

May 22, 2026

More than 180 district employees are celebrating 25 years of service with Surrey Schools this year!

Every year, the Surrey Board of Education hosts a Long Service Recognition evening to honour employees who have reached a quarter of a century with the district, with 183 employees being recognized in 2026.

"Reaching 25 years of service is an extraordinary milestone and we are deeply grateful for the care and commitment these employees have shown to our students and school communities throughout their careers," said Gary Tymoschuk, Chair of the Surrey Board of Education. "Their passion for public education and the lasting difference they make in the lives of students each and every day are what continue to make our district such a strong and supportive place to work, play and learn."

A reception was held Thursday at the Resource Education Centre and featured messages from Tymoschuk, Supt. Mark Pearmain, Surrey Principals' & Vice-Principals' Association president Graham Magnusson, Surrey Teachers' Association president Amrit Sanghe, CUPE 728 vice-president Theresa Pidcock and Student Voice representative Zohra Khawaja. The event also featured music by students from White Rock Elementary.

As a gift in recognition of their time with the district, employees received a gift card for a local restaurant.

Congratulations to all of our Long Service Award recipients and thank you for your many inspiring years of dedication to the district!
