As experts in supply chain management know, it's all about timing: getting the right product to the right place at the right time.
For the first graduate of the University of New Brunswick's new MBA in supply chain management, the timing couldn't have been better.
Jean Camino, an industrial engineer with several years of experience managing logistics in Peru's mining sector, always knew he wanted to get an MBA in an English-speaking country.
"I wanted to learn all the terminology of supply chain management in English and make good industry connections here in Canada," he said.
His brother, a UNB Saint John MBA grad, recommended the program, and when Camino reached out to UNB, he learned that the university's Saint John campus was about to launch an MBA in supply chain management the first supply chain management accreditation within a Canadian MBA program.
For Camino, it was the right program, delivered at the right time.
"It was very rewarding for me," he said, citing the instructors' industry experience.
After completing the program, Camino had two job opportunities and is now leading efforts to centralize supply chain operations at a growing vineyard in Nova Scotia's Annapolis Valley.
"It's a really interesting opportunity," he said. "It implies strategic negotiation, project planning, vendor relationship management, sourcing strategies and trying to put together the best team and warehousing system for the company."
This hands-on experience will help prepare Camino as he works towards his supply chain management designation, which he anticipates earning in July 2026.
"It will be a huge milestone for my career," he said.
