WILFRID LAURIER UNIVERSITY
Celebrating 60 years of the Lyle S. Hallman Faculty of Social Work

September 18, 2026

The Lyle S. Hallman Faculty of Social Work is celebrating 60 years of advancing social work and changing lives in 2026-27. For six decades, Social Work faculty, students and alumni have promoted wellbeing, strengthened communities, challenged systems, and made a lasting difference across Canada and around the world.

We're marking this milestone with a year full of connecting, celebrating, and looking ahead to the future of Laurier Social Work. On this page, we'll share special events, lectures, volunteer initiatives and opportunities, and stories that celebrate the impact of the Faculty and its graduates. We welcome you to celebrate with us!

"Our 60th anniversary is an opportunity to celebrate the people, relationships and ideas that have shaped the Lyle S. Hallman Faculty of Social Work and the impact our community has had over the past six decades. It is also an opportunity to look ahead. As social workers, educators, researchers and community partners, we have an important role to play in responding to complex social challenges and advancing well-being, equity, inclusion, decolonization and social justice. I am excited about what we will continue to accomplish together."
Michael Woodford, Dean, Lyle S. Hallman Faculty of Social Work
