A new graduate program that will help prepare students and professionals to lead change and innovation in Nova Scotia's healthcare system is underway at Cape Breton University (CBU).

The new master of healthcare leadership and innovation program is designed to prepare students and professionals to navigate complex healthcare challenges, use innovation and digital tools, and lead diverse teams. Graduates will help build leadership capacity across Nova Scotia's healthcare system, supporting improvements in how care is delivered and helping the system respond to changing patient and workforce needs.
"Nova Scotia needs skilled leaders who can help build a stronger, more responsive healthcare system," said Brian Wong, Minister of Advanced Education. "CBU's new program will help develop the leadership and innovation skills needed to strengthen our healthcare workforce and support better care for Nova Scotians. It's also a great example of how our universities are aligning programs with the needs of students, communities and the workforce."
The 16-month program supports the Province's 2025-27 bilateral agreement with CBU, which includes actions to develop graduate programs in areas of workforce demand.
Graduates may pursue careers in healthcare administration, health services management, telehealth program management and regulatory affairs, contributing to organizations across Nova Scotia's healthcare system.
