BCIT launches new People Plan

The British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) is proud to introduce its new People Plan: Caring for our people. Strengthening BCIT together.

Rooted in BCIT's mission, vision, and values, the People Plan prioritizes initiatives that advance wellbeing, growth, belonging, and transformation.

"The People Plan reflects what we heard from our people and what they need to thrive: healthier ways of working, opportunities to grow and learn, a culture where everyone feels they belong, and the support to confidently lead and navigate change," says Chris Hudson, Vice President, People, Culture, and Inclusion.

Developed through extensive consultation across the BCIT community, the People Plan builds on the BCIT Strategic Plan 2025-2030. Anchored by four pillars, it outlines how we support our employees, who shape and elevate our students' educational journey:

• Cultivate Healthy Environments - Supporting physical and psychological wellbeing through health, wellness, safety, and accessibility.
• Grow Our People - Recruiting, developing, promoting, and retaining people from diverse backgrounds to enhance student success and employee experience.
• Build Communities of Belonging - Strengthening relationships and collaborative communities that inspire employees and support students.
• Inspire Transformation - Encouraging creativity and experimentation to help people push beyond current boundaries.

Across these pillars, the People Plan identifies 12 initiatives designed to create meaningful progress and measurable impact.

"These pillars demonstrate the care we have for one another, for the students whose success we inspire, and for this community we call our own. When we strengthen how we work together, we strengthen BCIT," notes Chris.
